Divorce and Related Family Law Issues in New York City
Family courts in the state of New York deal with issues pertaining to children, parents and spouses, child custody and other matters. The Family Court Act provided family courts with the ability to hear certain types of cases, and there is a court in each of the five boroughs of New York City. There are no juries and only a judge, referee or a support magistrate may decide a family court case.
If you are dealing with an issue that may end up in family court, it is in your best interest to work with an attorney. I regularly appear in the New York Supreme Court and in family courts throughout New York City. As an experienced attorney, I, Albie Myburgh, have become very familiar with the legal procedures used in New York family courts and am comfortable representing clients there. I am a seasoned litigator who fights to protect my clients rights.
Litigation is not always the most effective way to accomplish my clients' goals. In certain cases, this means trying to avoid the courtroom altogether and I encourage settlement through cooperation.
